A student at Strathmore University is nursing serious gunshot injuries after being shot thrice by armed robbers in Madaraka Estate on Monday night.

The student, according to Nairobi County Police Chief Benson Kibui, was walking home a few minutes to nine when two men who were armed with pistols accosted him.

The robbers were after his valuables.

“They asked him to give them the laptop he was carrying, money, mobile phone and other things he had in his bag, but the student resisted and they shot him,” Mr Kibui said.

The thugs shot him on the chest, the thigh and on his left leg.

Police officers who were on patrol heard the gunshots and arrived at the scene to rescue the student.

“They recovered all of the student’s belonging and managed to rush him to hospital where he is receiving treatment” Mr Kibui said.

The student is admitted at Meridian Equator hospital in Nairobi West.
