Capital FM employee Farida Idris Mohamed charged with threatening to kill
A senior employee at a media house has been charged with threatening to kill a businessman.
Farida Idris Mohamed, a director in the commercial department at Capital FM denied seven counts of threatening to kill Hussein Aila Amaro.
The alleged offences were committed on June 14 and 15, 2019 at 10.14 hours and 13.50 hours.
Farida who was charged before Milimani chief magistrate Lucas Onyina allegedly sent threatening messages from her mobile phone to that of the complainant.
The charges stated that she threatened to kill contrary to Section 223(1) of the Penal Code Chapter (CAP) 63 Laws of Kenya.
The indictments stated that without lawful excuse caused Hussein Aila Amaro to receive a short text message (SMS) through Safaricom line number 0722820820 from Safaricom line number 07228989333 of the said Farida Idris Mohamed threatening to kill him.
The said threatening messages in all the seven counts contained some unprintable words which we cannot publish.
Lawyer Peter Wanyama who represented the accused applied for her release on reasonable bond terms.
Wanyama said the offences are bailable unless the prosecution advances compelling reasons to warrant the curtailment of her liberty.
A state prosecutor Anderson Gikunda did not oppose the bail plea.
In a ruling, Mr Onyina released Farida on a cash bail of Sh100,000.
The magistrate directed the prosecution to supply the accused with copies of witness statements to enable her prepare a defence.
