Diplo planned to take an uber from Nairobi to Mt Kilimanjaro
Renowned American DJ and music producer Thomas Wesley Pentz, widely known as Diplo, embarked on an unexpected adventure upon landing in Nairobi on January 21.
The artist, famous for his electronic music and as part of Major Lazer, had a peculiar plan to take an Uber from Nairobi to Mount Kilimanjaro, only to realize that the iconic peak is located in Tanzania.
In a candid revelation on his Instagram, Diplo shared his amusing experience, stating, “Landed in Nairobi, got an Uber to Mount Kilimanjaro, realised it’s in Tanzania, so we went to this other mountain with some cows.”
The DJ’s impromptu detour led him to Ngong Hills, where he spent time climbing with friends, interacting with music fans, and enjoying the serene ambiance alongside windmills.
Sharing snippets of his escapade, Diplo recounted petting cows, enduring fire ant bites, sipping sugarcane, and eventually taking a nap amidst the scenic surroundings. His post encouraged followers to explore Africa, emphasising its beauty.

Later, Diplo documented his time in the studio with Sofiya Nzau famed for the Mwaki hit and DJ Fully Focus. The artist’s escapades resonated with fans and elicited a variety of reactions on social media.
While some praised the picturesque landscapes of Kenya, others couldn’t help but comment on the DJ’s unconventional travel plans. One Instagram user humorously remarked, “Put a shirt on, please? My girlfriend follows you.”
Diplo’s journey also sparked recommendations for wildlife safaris.
