DJ Fatxo back on TV screens after being cleared of murder

Mugithi artist Lawrence Njuguna famously known as DJ Fatxo is back on the airwaves, days after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) cleared him of any wrongdoing in the murder of interior designer Jeff Mwathi.

In a TikTok video also uploaded on his official Facebook page, the vernacular artist is seen performing at a local vernacular Tv Station.

He was clad in a black t-shirt with the words ‘In God we Trust’ written at the front

“Since I Hit the Airwaves, it Has Been God, it is God & It will always be God. *In God We Trust*.” he captioned.

He further wrote in Kikuyu: “Ahooiii Ngai Hoyaai Biu na mutigakue Ngoro. Ngai Ari Hamwe na ithui na ni aiguite mahoya Manyu.”

The wordings are loosely translated as, “Believers of God, pray hard and you should not give up. God is with us, and He has heard our prayers.”

In the Kikuyu song he performed, he was seemingly encouraging and acknowledging his mother reminiscing the challenges she went through while raising them up.

“Mum, when you see them, you should not fear them. Where we have reached, you brought us up through struggles…Eating and drinking, we survived by sugarcane juice…I do not even want to recall the ups and downs we encountered…We survived the firewood smoke…” goes the song.

Dj Fatxo was linked and accused of killing fashion designer Jeff Mwathi February 2023, at his Roysambu, Kasarani apartment.

The matter triggered an uproar by Kenyans online, forcing the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Amin Mohamed to take over the case.

Fresh investigations were ordered and done, including exhumation of the 23-year-old’s body for a second postmortem to ascertain the exact cause of his death.

But the DPP dropped the case, and instead recommended the formation of a tribunal to establish the circumstances that led to the deceased’s death.
