Family provides burial update for former DP Moody Awori’s daughter
The family of former Deputy President Moody Awori has given an update on the burial of his daughter, who was a staff of the Senate.
Ms Marya Elizabeth Abjibodou, who worked as a Principal Clerk Assistant in the Legislative and Procedural Services Directorate of the Senate, died on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, after a short illness, the family said.
“She was the cherished daughter of the former Vice President of the Republic of Kenya. His Excellency Hon Dr Moody Awori,” the family said in an obituary published in the Daily Nation.
The obituary described her as a beloved tutor, mentor, colleague and friend to many in the Parliamentary Service, particularly in the Senate, where she served as Head of Journals, Procedural Research and Records Development.

The family said a mass will be held at Consolata Shrine in Westlands, Nairobi County on Wednesday, 14 June 2023. The mass will begin at 11 am.
On Friday, June 16, 2023, the burial will take place at the family home at Gulumwoyo, Funyula, Samia in Busia County from 9 am.
Her death was first announced by Senate Speaker Amason Kingi, who described her as very hardworking.
“It is with deep sorrow that I inform you of the untimely demise of Mrs Marya Elizabeth Adjibodou, Principal Clerk Assistant I serving in the Directorate of Legislative and Procedural Services in the Senate,” Kingi announced.
The late Adjibodou joined the Parliamentary Service on December 6, 2005, as a Personal Assistant in the then Office of the Vice President and Head of Government Business.
