How businessman lost Sh4.1 million in Kisii town


Details of how a Kisii-based businessman who over the weekend reportedly lost Sh4.1 million can now be revealed.

Mr Pratan Patel a manager at Discount Mega shop was taking the money to a bank within the town when he was attacked.

He had asked a boda boda rider to take him to the bank when the rider changed route with the police now saying that he was a man of interest in the matter.

“The businessman tried to jump off the moving motorcycle, which forced both him and the rider to fall off,” the police said in a report.

During the commotion, another rider arrived picked up the bag that had the cash and sped off.

The police further said the duo sped towards Nyanchwa estate on the outskirts of Kisii town.

Mr Patel sustained injuries during the robbery and was rushed to a local hospital where he was treated and discharged.

No arrests have been made in relation to the incident.

Last week, a school principal and a  bursar lost Sh500,000 which they had just withdrawn from a bank in the town.

The two left the money inside a car belonging to the principal and went to have lunch only to return and find that the vehicle had been broken into and the money stolen. The matter was reported at Kisii Police Station.
