How police officers arrested three armed suspects of robbery with violence

Details of how police officers arrested three suspects of robbery with violence who were armed with a firearm can now be revealed.

The three suspects were nabbed within Matopeni area in Kayole Estate as one of them tried to purchase ammunition.

The police, in a statement, said at the time of the arrest one of the suspects was seeking to purchase bullets and he was being assisted by another suspect who linked him up to the seller.

“The officers launched a sting operation working on intelligence that a man was looking for ammunition and was suspected to be in possession of a firearm,” the police said in the statement.

The main suspect, who was found with gun, was arrested while on board a motorbike. The suspect was also found in possession of an empty magazine.

Police officers then, through further interrogation, arrested the third suspect who was to supply ammunition to the main suspect. The police also recovered a pistol in the first suspect’s house.

“A further search of the house revealed a black plastic imitation firearm stashed in a shoe rack. All the suspects are currently in police custody awaiting arraignment in court,” the police said.

Following the arrest, the police asked members of the public to continue sharing vital information through the National Police Service toll-free numbers and also reaching out to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
