The account’s closure was met with shock and celebration by fans and critics alike, propelling him to the top of Twitter trends.
To top it all off, Kenyans have come out to add salt to the wound by sharing their unfiltered opinions about his termination with many claiming it was long overdue.
Did Andrew Kibe cause his own downfall with his choice of content?
The media personality has used the platform, which had accrued billions of views and hundreds of thousands of followers, to bash and criticise Kenyans regardless of their affiliation.
Let’s have a look at what most Kenyans on Reddit think.
According to an anonymous user, Kibe had this coming for the longest time as his content was greatly controversial.
“So the unexpected happened yesterday. Am I a fan of Kibe? Absolutely. Do I support his termination from YouTube? 100%. Look, guys, I follow Kibe to enjoy his comedy. But I have always had a feeling he was being too harsh, especially towards women, particularly single mothers. Listen, it’s not the 1880s; there has been a paradigm shift in marriage. Women should be allowed to leave marriages and relationships if they feel they should.
Secondly, some men are really irresponsible and won’t hold a family together, and therefore, no matter how much you support them, they will never amount to anything. Kibe trashing celebrity couples was one of the most idiotic moves. Thirdly, do you realize that with the advancement in technology and communication, there has been insane misinformation and radicalization? We should all agree that some people aren’t bright enough and will always practice whatever they see online.
Women are complex and insanely bright (though they may still make dumb decisions at times). However, they are some of the biggest supporters of Kibe. They need our support, but not in the ways Kibe proposes: denying them opportunities and trashing them. You need to find your jigsaw if you really want to be in a relationship.
With that said, we should be mindful of what ideologies are spreading in society. The goal is to promote coexistence and quality of life. Let’s protect the public from awful and impractical ideologies.”
