List of areas that will experience blackout on Sunday

Today, Sunday, January 14, 2024, four counties will be affected by electricity interruptions, as announced by Kenya Power Company.

In a statement, Kenya Power Company announced that the power interruptions are a result of planned maintenance.

“Hello please be advised, the following areas will be under planned maintenance,” Kenya Power said in a statement.

The counties include Machakos County, with the specific areas being Kitui Road, Kyeni, Kaseve, Kalumoni, Kaani, Kithangathini, Vyulya, Masii, Kasolongo, Muthetheni, Makutano, Mwala, Kivandini, Mbiuni, Ghetoo, Wamunyu, Yathui, Ikalaasa, Tulia, Miondoni and Syokisinga.

Others include Katangi, Ikombe, Kenyatta, Seku University, Kyua, and adjacent customers.

The other county is Nakuru and Baringo. The specific areas that will be affected are the whole of Mogotio Town, Mogotio Westland, Little Friend Academy, Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) Mogotio, Mogotio Sub-County Hospital and offices, St Mary’s Primary School and adjacent customers.

Kakamega County was third on the list, and the areas that will be affected are Shikangania Jaggery, Elukho, Shikoti Market, Tumaini, Esumeiya, Ewamahumbi, Etemesi and adjacent customers.

Kirinyaga County was fourth on the list, and the specific areas that will be affected include PI and Estana.

More specific areas include Parts of PI Market, Maina Highway Hotel, Estana Hotel, Mumbuini, Murinduko, Itangi, Parts of Togonye, Ikurungu, Megambacuira, and adjacent customers.

Last weekend, various areas within Kiambu and Nairobi Counties were affected by the blackout, which also caught Kenya Power officials unaware.

In a statement, the electricity provider said that the main line supplying power to Fedha Estate, Tel Aviv, Tassia, and some parts of Embakassi had been affected.

However, it said that technicians and engineers had already been deployed to restore the area’s power.

“Supply line serving Kenyatta University Ruiru Campus, Twiga Estate, Murera Estate, Mugutha, Kariuki, General Service Unit (GSU) camp in Ruiru, Kimbo, Matangi, Murera, Toll Shopping Center and its environs is off and we are on it,” the electricity provider said in a statement published on its social media accounts.

Other areas within Kiambu County that have been affected by the power interruptions, according to Kenya Power, are Ndumbuini, Kanyariri, Kabete Vetlab, Uthiru, Kinoo, Kwa Mugo Njathaini, Uthiru 87, Gakobu and its environs.

The areas of Kwihota, Kihunguro, Murera, Ruiru, Gatongora, Kilimambogo, Kamakis, Mitike Da Ruiru, and Karuguru near Eden Academy and its environs.
