Love triangle puzzle as police probe death Mlolongo salonist Jane Mwende
Police are pursuing a love triangle theory in a bid to unravel the murder of Ms Jane Mwende, a hairdresser who was based in Mlolongo, Machakos, County at the time of her death.
Ms Mwende’s mysteriously disappeared for two weeks before her body was discovered in a pit latrine on September 12, 2023.
Two suspects identified as Ms Evelyn Wanza Katumbu and Ms Faith Nthemba Kyalo, are in custody and assisting police with investigations in relation to the incident.
“They will be grilled and record statements on their interactions with the deceased,” a source close to investigations told Nairobi News.
A third suspect identified as Mr Januaris Musau was released by a Mavoko Law Court.
“It is believed the deceased went missing due to her relationship with Mr Musau. The other lady Ms Faith Kyalo also had a relationship with the man,” a source intimiated.
Initial investigations had indicated the lady had multiple lovers, leading to police considering the investigation a possible love triangle.
Nairobi News understands the suspects are said to have led police officers to the scene where the body of Ms Mwende had been thrown.
Initially, the duo had reportedly told police they had taken the body to Wote Forest in Makueni.
When they did not find the body, they changed the statement and said the body was within the Kiserian area before they eventually led the officers to where the body of the woman was.
Police say Ms Mwende left her home on August 25, 2023, after a client requested her hairdressing services.
She was never seen again until her lifeless body was retrieved from the pit latrine.
“She left the salon saying a client had called her, but that was the last time we all saw her,” explained a colleague.
The caller of the phone that sent the deceased to work on the fateful day she disappeared is yet to be nabbed and police say that she is still at large.
