Mlolongo 20-man gang wrecks havoc in quarry: Police launch manhunt

In the peaceful town of Mlolongo, nestled amidst the serene landscapes of Machakos County, a dark and tragic event has shattered the tranquility, leaving behind a trail of grief and fear.

The once bustling quarry, where dreams were forged through hard work and determination, has become the haunting scene of a heinous crime that has sent shockwaves through the community.

Mr Jared Marita, a dedicated and diligent guard, stood watch at the quarry’s gate on that fateful day (August 1), protecting its valuable resources with unwavering dedication.

However, unbeknownst to him, danger lurked in the shadows, silently waiting to strike at the unsuspecting workers.

With sudden and brutal force, a gang of over 20 individuals, their faces hidden in darkness, descended upon the quarry, armed with crude weapons and malice in their hearts.

In an instant, chaos ensued. Amidst the mayhem, Jared displayed immense bravery, determined to defend his post and protect his fellow workers. But the odds were stacked against him, and tragedy struck with devastating swiftness. Gunshots rang out, claiming his life and leaving a profound void in the lives of those who knew and loved him.

Beside him, his colleague, Dickton Baraza, also fell victim to the violent assault, suffering injuries as the ruthless assailants bound him in captivity.

Nairobi News has uncovered that Bizrock Group Limited operates the quarry and has its offices in Mlolongo.

Witnesses report that the gang first immobilized the guard before launching their vicious attack.

Sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) suspect that the motive behind the assault is a dispute over the ownership of the quarry. They have launched a manhunt for the perpetrators.

“There are two rival gangs fighting for control over the quarry ownership. It is believed that the entire matter revolves around the money generated from the quarry,” revealed an anonymous source, as they are not authorized to speak to the media.
