Murugi Munyi: Why I ate tissue paper during pregnancy

Content creator Murugi Munyi recently took to her Instagram stories to recount a unique and somewhat unusual experience from one of her pregnancies.

The mother of three shared an intriguing tale from six years ago when she found herself craving an unexpected item during her pregnancy – tissue paper.

In her Insta stories, Murugi explained, “The number of responses about the tissue. Mukeni’s pregnancy was another thing. Six years ago. I was addicted to tissue. I was craving tissue tissue during Mukeni’s pregnancies. I used to sit on a bed and a tissue on the side. I would eat like a box for some days. I could finish a whole role not in a day but for a couple of days.”

Despite acknowledging that her craving for tissue was not ideal for her digestion and caused discomfort, Murugi admitted that she couldn’t resist the urge to indulge in the unusual craving.

Drawing a comparison to the cravings some pregnant women have for non-food items like stones, Murugi humorously referred to tissue as her version of a stone.

“It was not good for my digestion and it used to give me bad constipation but I could not stop. I don’t know but I think it is just how some women crave for stones so tissue was my version of my stone,” she said.

Reflecting on her past cravings, Murugi remarked that even now, she can eat tissue without finding it repulsive, although she acknowledged the bewildered reactions she receives from others when she shares her story.

“Even right now, I can eat tissue since it is not that disgusting. People are like, Tissue? yeah, that was the most delicious thing,” she said.

The candid revelation from Murugi Munyi offers a glimpse into the unique and sometimes unexpected experiences that women may encounter during pregnancy.

While cravings are a common aspect of pregnancy, Murugi’s story serves as a reminder that these cravings can vary widely and sometimes include unconventional items.
