Police to confiscate licenses of motorists found driving under the influence
Inspector General of Police, Joseph Boinnet, has asked police officers to confiscate licenses of motorists who will be found driving while drunk.
Mr Boinnet also said that any traffic offenders, especially those who drive carelessly, will also have their licenses taken away.
“We are not going to tolerate any form of recklessness and I ask all the officers deployed in various parts of the country to be highly alert,” he said.
SUSPENDED
His sentiments were echoed by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) which said that it will take action against drivers whose licenses will be confiscated for such reasons.
Nairobi News has established that seven drivers operating in different parts of the country have have already had their licenses suspended.
At the same time 11 public service vehicles (PSVs) which were operating illegally at night have also been withdrawn from the roads for a period of 30 days.
