Police officer injured in private parts during scuffle with suspected robber
A police officer on Tuesday morning sustained injuries in his private parts while attempting to arrest a suspected robber who was armed with a machete.
According to a report filed at Kakamega Police Station, officers attached to Eshisiru Police Post were patrolling a local shopping center when they encountered the suspect who was walking through a dark alley near a bar known as Chatter Nooga.
“When he was stopped he brandished a panga but he was immediately subdued and disarmed. He resisted to be handcuffed and he started fighting the officers,” the police said in the report.
The officers however wrestled and subdued the suspect as they called for reinforcement.
It was during the scuffle with the suspect, who has since been identified as Mr Dismus Otinga, that the officer got injured in the testicles. The suspect also bit one of the officer’s right hand finger. The injured officer was taken to a local hospital where he is receiving treatment.
The suspect will face charges of intending to commit a felony, assault and damaging police property.
The incident happened barely seven hours after Kakamega Central Sub-County Deputy Police Commander Daniel Mukubu issued a stern warning to criminals operating in his jurisdiction.
