The body of the man identified as Mr Johnson Githieya was found floating inside the river on April 30, 2023.

A police source told Nairobi News the deceased is the son of a local politician.

Locals in Kabete said the body was seen by people who were passing near the river and made a decision to get it from the water.

“It is then that we were shocked to see that he was a person we know so well as he was very active during the last elections,” Mr Benjamin Kioko a local said.

Another local Ms Nelson Kimani said that when they removed the body from the river, it did not have any physical injuries.

He said that the deceased was always friendly and they used to call him using his alias Cool because he was gentle.

“The police should just tell us what led to the death of this man, he was very friendly and we shall really want to know what transpired,” he said.

Already, the family of the deceased has started organizing for meetings ahead of his burial at their residence in Mwimuto Village within Gituamba in Kabete, Kiambu County.

The incident took place barely a week after another body of a man was found floating on Nairobi River near Chiromo Mortuary.
