Senator Crystal Asige opens up on breaking up with an ‘insecure’ boyfriend
Nominated senator and talented musician Crystal Asige recently revealed details of a heartbreak she experienced in 2023, shedding light on her personal life in a candid interview with TV47.
During the interview, the former Sol Generation artist bravely shared insights into her failed relationship when asked about experiencing heartbreak. Smiling, she remarked:
“There are so many toxic people out there.”
According to Crystal, her ex-boyfriend struggled to cope with her fame and success after she was nominated for the senator position.
“Sometimes men get insecure and they need to style up,” she explained.
Despite her ex’s struggles, Crystal insisted that he continues to reach out to her, even though she chooses not to return his calls.
“I prefer breakups face to face. I want you to be man enough to face me and explain why,” she explained.
Navigating the dating scene post-breakup, Crystal revealed that she now finds herself on blind dates.
“It’s interesting because I still have to see what someone looks like because I love a certain type of guy,” she explained.
While physical appearance is important to her, Crystal insisted that she values qualities more.
“My type of man is kind, someone who wants to understand my world, how I live, but then also tall, dark and handsome ni kawaida,” she added.
The Mombasa-raised singer-songwriter burst into the limelight as the first lady of Sauti Sol’s premium label, Sol Generation.
However, towards the end of 2019, the singer and the award-winning group decided to part ways.
In September 2022, she was nominated to the Senate to represent people living with disabilities (PLWDs) under the banner of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
According to a gazette published by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on Wednesday, 7 September 2022, Asige was one of the 67 senators nominated.
Expressing her gratitude, she thanked Azimio La Umoja Coalition flagbearer Raila Odinga for the opportunity and hailed it as a significant achievement for people living with disabilities.
Despite her responsibilities in the Senate, Crystal has remained active in the music industry, consistently releasing new music projects.
