Biggest celebrity breakup stories of 2022
Calling it quits. Breaking up. It happens all the time. However, aside from setting trends, being role models and entertaining us, celebrities also get to experience life, the same way every human does. One thing, though, the world never gets used to seeing celebrity couples break up.
One of the biggest challenges celebrities struggle with is keeping their relationships private. There are some celebrities who strive to keep their partners away from the public eye, yet their lifestyles always have a way of unintentionally thrusting them into the limelight.
And when things go south, they have to face the reality and open up to their fans about it.
In Kenya, the year 2022 had its fair share of celebrity breakups which lit up social media and made headlines on the mainstream media. Here is a compilation of five celebrity breakups that made big news in the country.
Corazon Kwamboka & Frankie Just Gymit
Corazon Kwamboka and Frank Kiarie aka Frankie Just Gymit reportedly broke up in February 2022. While announcing their breakup, Corazon posted a black rose on Instagram with a clear message that read: “I’m single. I choose me. Life goes on.”
Their breakup however was one of the most talked-about breakups as few people saw it coming. When Corazon said she was single, the two had just welcomed their second child together.
However, some netizens said it was karma, with Frankie having previously left his baby mama Maureen Waititu for the former socialite. Frankie also has two children with Maureen Waititu.
Hassan Joho & Giovanni Fazzini
In February, 2022, former Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho agreed to divorce his Italian wife, Madina Giovanni Fazzini. After amicably resolving their fallout, Joho signed consent with his Italian wife of 12 years.
In an affidavit filed with the court on January 26, 2022, Fazzini claimed she and Joho divorced in 2013 and that there is little chance of them reuniting. Fazzini also claimed that Joho had long left their marital home, leaving their two children in her care, implying that the marriage was no longer valid.
Mulamwa & Carol Sonnie
Although the couple had hinted of their breakup in December, 2021, it dragged on until 2022 when they eventually opened up on why they broke up. The couple announced their split shortly after their daughter Keilah Oyando was born.
Carol admitted that she had wronged the comedian, and they tried working on their relationship but all their efforts had failed. Mulamwah recently disclosed that there was a recurrent matter that he could not ignore.
“That is what actually happened to us. Something happened before and the problem is being reminded every time you look at someone… it was really getting to me and I saw it fit not to push the relationship. We would have postponed a problem,” said Mulamwa.
Amina Khalef & Ali Kiba
In February 2022, Bongo star Ali Kiba’s Kenyan wife Amina Khalef filed for divorce at the Kadhis Court. On February 10, the Kadhi’s Court in Mombasa gave the Tanzanian singer 15 days to respond to the suit, failure to which the case would proceed in his absence.
“Should you fail to appear within the time mentioned above, the plaintiff may proceed with the suit and judgment given in your absence,” the court papers read.
Ms Khalef filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences and abuse. She sought Sh200,000 monthly support from the singer and health insurance.
In October 2022 Ms Khalef, with the divorce case is still ongoing, indicated that she had finally divorced the singer. In a cryptic message, the Kenyan beauty shared a photo of an open cage with the message: “Officially Free.”
Stivo Simple Boy & Pritty Vishy
The couple broke up shortly after the latter introduced herself as the musician’s girlfriend. During the nasty breakup, the two traded accusations over who between them had been been wrong. While Pritty Vishy said Stivo Simple boy did not defend her from his family and management, the celebrated artiste accused his former girlfriend of chasing clout using his name.
