Akothee’s tiff with sister Cebbie Koks seemingly far from over

Despite singer Akothee’s sister Cebbie Koks coming out publicly to claim that she and her famous sister are in good terms, the songbird’s absence during Cebbie’s traditional wedding has raised eyebrows.

Cebbie got married city lawyer Steve Ogolla on December 28, 2022 in a lavish wedding attended by family and close friends.

Pictures shared on social media by the couple showed Mr Ogolla in an all-white outfit and an emerald green hat while Cebbie wore a white dress with golden decorations.

Among those who attended the wedding held in Rongo, Migori County, were National Assembly Deputy Speaker Gladys Shollei and Lang’ata MP Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o. City lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo, the husband of Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, was also present.

While Akothee was conspicuously absent, her children were in attendance. Even after the event, Akothee has been busy posting photos and videos of herself and her children on social media, with no mention of her sister’s big event.

The two sisters fell out in 2020 when Cebbie claimed Akothee was struggling financially and was faking her riches on Instagram. In an exposé by blogger Edgar Obare that made rounds on social media, Cebbie claimed that at the time singer had become poor and couldn’t even afford school fees for her children.

Cebbie also accused Akothee of being a husband snatcher who has also dated politicians in the country.

Reacting to these claims, Akothee said she has done more than enough for her family members.

“I have done more than enough for my family! I know some of them feel bad when they see me support people I don’t know, but the truth is, I get fulfilled when I help those that are in need and expect nothing,” Akothee wrote on Instagram back then.

She also said that some of her relatives have been concentrating more on her finances after she started her foundation.

“People wanted to own my life and jump onto my success, using Akothee Foundation that is hardly a year old, with no sponsors or donors as a way of hurting me! I had to put it on hold and concentrate on my life and my children,” she said.

Akothee said that members of her family hated her because she stopped giving them cash.

She further said that her family did not know much about her and that if she died no-one would even know who will handle her will or bills.
