Avril returns to IG after altercation with J Blessing
Singer Judith Nyambura Mwangi, popularly known as Avril, has made a comeback on Instagram after a brief hiatus following a highly publicized altercation with her long-time partner and baby daddy, Jibril Blessing, alias J Blessing.
The songstress deactivated her account on November 15, 2023, after sharing a now-deleted image displaying a bruised face, triggering widespread concern among her fans.
Avril silently reactivated her Instagram on Tuesday, November 21, with a promotional post for her upcoming show, Jambo Festival, scheduled for December 2.
The event, promising “Old skul vibes,” is set to be a celebration of the veteran singer’s contributions to the music industry.
The controversy began when Avril’s initial post went viral, shedding light on the tumultuous nature of her relationship with J Blessing.
The subsequent online frenzy prompted Avril to return to social media and share her decision to forgive J Blessing, urging the public to extend the same grace to her partner.
In a joint statement, the couple acknowledged the altercation and revealed their decision to part ways amicably after seven years together.
The physical confrontation reportedly resulted in injuries for both parties, leading them to seek medical attention.
J Blessing took responsibility for the incident, clarifying that one of the images posted by Avril was from a previous altercation nearly a year ago.
He expressed remorse for the harm caused and explained that he promptly took Avril to Aga Khan Hospital for treatment.
“I sincerely apologize for any harm I have caused Avril or any other person. I am not innocent, but I would like to clarify a few things. About a year ago, we had a physical altercation where we both got hurt, and on that day, I immediately took her to the hospital at Aga Khan. I take full responsibility for that moment of weakness. One of the pictures she posted is from that incident,” he explained in his statement.
