Dagoretti residents in shock after cleaner finds decomposing body inside a borehole
Residents of Dagoretti’s Kabiria have been left in shock after a cleaner who was cleaning a borehole found a decomposing body of a man inside.
Police who visited the scene said the deceased did not have any identification on him and it was not clear how long he had been inside the borehole.
“It is not clear if he was killed or he fell there accidentally inside the 57 feet deep borehole on Tuesday, February 14 afternoon,” police said in a statement.
Police said the man is aged about 45 and is yet to be identified.
His remains were moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and identification as part of the probe.
Meanwhile, police are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found at a bridge in the Mwiki area, Kasarani.
The woman was identified as Jecinta Akinyi Awuor, 26.
According to the police, the deceased had been sent for supper by her husband and gave her Sh400 for shopping on Monday evening only for him to receive a call several hours later that she was dead.
“My wife did not return after I sent her to go and buy supper on Monday evening. On Tuesday morning I received a call that my wife’s had been discovered at the scene,” he told the police.
Police who attended the scene said the body did not have any physical injuries at the time.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
In another incident, police have launched investigations after man died after he was allegedly pushed off the fifth floor of a residential house in Riruta, Nairobi, by his roommate.
According to the police, the two men identified as John Kibe and Dennis Okello were at the house arguing and fighting in their house along Ngina Street.
It was then that Kibe dropped to the ground floor and died on the spot after landing on his back.
Residents rushed to the affected room and failed to find Okello.
But after a search, he was found on the rooftop of the house and arrested.
Police said they are investigating the incident and they were yet to establish the motive.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and further probe.
