Eric Maigo: Obituary unveils solitary life of slain Finance Manager

The family of Mr Eric Maigo Onchari, a finance manager brutally murdered in his Woodley home, has released his obituary, shedding light on the private life he led.

Surprisingly, the obituary revealed that Mr Maigo had neither a wife nor any known children.

The shocking incident took place on Friday, September 15, 2023, when Mr Maigo was killed in cold blood by an underage perpetrator.

Thankfully, justice swiftly followed, as the suspect was arrested on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, by dedicated investigators from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

During a court hearing on Wednesday, the judiciary granted the DCI sleuths permission to detain the main suspect for an additional 21 days, allowing them to continue their thorough investigations into the tragic event.

The motive behind the gruesome murder, where the suspect allegedly stabbed the deceased 25 times while he called for help, remains a mystery.

Eric Maigo Onchari was born on November 26, 1986, to Mr Zebedeo Onchari Nyakweba, an employee of ICEA LION, and Ms Dinah Onchari. His surviving siblings include Caroline, Edwin, Joshua, Christine, and Doreen.

Currently, the family has initiated preparations for his burial, holding meetings both at his residence in Sunrise Estate, Nairobi, and their village home in Amasago, situated in Keumbu, Kisii County.

Nairobi News uncovered that on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, the family organized a major fundraiser at the All Saints Cathedral church.

On Wednesday, September 27, 2023, a requiem mass was held at Don Bosco Catholic Church in Upperhill, which was the church frequented by the deceased.

The cortege is scheduled to depart from Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi today, Thursday, September 28, 2023, at 7 a.m.

A funeral mass is planned for Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Amasago, Keumbu, Kisii County, commencing at 3 p.m.

Finally, on Friday, September 29, 2023, Mr Maigo will be laid to rest at his home, with the ceremony commencing at 10:30 a.m.
