Ex-Tahidi High actress Gloria Moraa arrested after dog bites neighbour’s child

Actress Gloria Moraa is in trouble after her dog bit her neighbour’s four-year-old child in Embakasi, a Nairobi suburb, three months ago.

The ex-Tahidi High actress is battling charges of reckless and negligent act and causing harm contrary to section 243 (d) of the Penal Code.

Consequently, the media personality could be forced to pay a hospital bill of more than Sh150,000 to the child’s mother to have the case against her withdrawn.

Moraa, who’s also a renowned social media influencer, is accused of failing to take precautions against probable danger from a dog in her possession in a manner so negligent as to endanger the life of AMA, a child aged four years, on July 30, 2023.

Nairobi News understands the child was playing outside their house with other children when her mother went to call her since she wanted to leave with her.

Just before the minor’s mother got where she was playing, Ms Moraa’s dog left her compound, chased the minor, and bit her on the leg behind the knee.

She was rushed to a nearby hospital while bleeding.

The minor’s mother called Ms Moraa even before she reached the hospital to know if the dog had been vaccinated, but she could not ascertain whether she had taken the dog for vaccination.

The suspect allegedly kept promising to provide the vaccination certificate for her dog, but she did not honour her promises, and she became unreachable to the minor’s mother.

The victim’s mother reported the matter at the Embakasi police station, and the media personality was traced and arrested.

She denied the charges before Principal Magistrate Irene Gichobi of the Makadara Law Courts.

She was released on a cash bail of Sh10,000.

The case will be mentioned on November 16, 2023, before the hearing starts on February 20, 2024.

The child’s mother is listed as the main witness in the case, alongside a doctor who attended to the child at the hospital and a police officer who investigated the case.
