EXCLUSIVE: Sauti Sol’s Bien ignites beef with King Kaka
Sauti Sol’s Bien has re-ignited the beef between the band and Kaka Empire Chief Executive Kennedy Ombima, better known by his stage name King Kaka which is now six years old.
King Kaka had bashed the Sauti Sol band after they allegedly removed his poster from the group’s social media platforms.
At the time, Kaka also accused the Boy band of not doing much to help the local music industry.
In his accusation, King Kaka questioned the all-boys band over their influence in the industry.
Sauti Sol’s lead vocalist Bien Baraza hit back at King Kaka saying that as Sauti Sol they help others for love not doing something for the industry.
“It doesn’t mean Kaka Signing a musician is doing something for the Industry. We came up with a project called Studio Mashiani which was a platform for Kenyan youth and it was taken away from us. We do it because we love it, so that his sorry a** can get a chance at it later in his life” said Bien
After back and forth, King Kaka apologized to the band and termed the beef with Sauti Sol unhealthy.
Well, years later, Sauti Sol started a record label, Sol Generation where they signed several artists among them, Bensoul, Nviiri, and Crystal Asige, who left after a year.
Speaking exclusively to Nairobi News, Bien wondered why Kaka has never come back to tell his fans that Sauti Sol had done a great job.
According to Bien, King Kaka has featured Sauti Sol’s signees in his projects which have done very well.
Bien said Kaka should appreciate that Sauti Sol’s signees have built his career.
“Last year, the same guy who some times made a lot of noise about Sauti Sol not doing anything for the industry used our artistes (Nviiri and Bensoul) in his song. We just hope he now recognizes that Sauti Sol has done something for the industry,” Bien said.
Bien also revealed that Sol Generation’s signees Bensoul and Nviiri are likely to exit the label in 2024 and 2025 respectively.
