List of 7 counties set to experience power blackout


Seven counties will experience power interruptions today, Thursday, October 5, 2023, the Kenya Power has announced.

Nairobi County was top on the list with specific areas that will be affected, including Westlands and Mirema.

The specific areas that will be affected include Parts of Parklands Road, Wambugu Road, Parklands Posta, Ojijo Road, Parts of Muthithi Road, Mogotio Road, Tausi Road, Laxcon House, Parklands Sports Club, Parts of Mpaka Road and adjacent customers.

In Mirema, the following areas will be affected: Safari Park Gardens, Mirema Drive and Road, Oak Hood Place, Kwetu Place, GBS Studio, Nation Printers, United States International University (USIU), and adjacent customers.

Machakos County was listed second on the list, and the specific areas that will be affected include Makutano Mwala, Mwala, Kivandini, Mbiuni, Gheto, Miondoni, Syokisinga, Katangi, Ikombe, Seku University and adjacent customers.

Parts of Makueni County, especially in Kathonzweni, will also be affected. The specific areas include Makueni Boys and Girls, the Governor’s offices, Wote Huduma Center, the County Assembly of Makueni, Wote Technical Training Institute, Nyunzu, Eni Kenya Malivani, Unoa Social Center, Sinai, Kwa Kathoka, and adjacent customers.

Uasin Gishu County was also on the list, and the areas that will be affected include Koilel Farm, Kaberi, Likuyani, and Jamii Millers.

The specific areas include; Beliomo, Navilus, Ibinga Market, the whole of Likuyani, Sango Market, Mapera Secondary School, Mapera Primary, Kapkorio village, Moiben Junction, Mosop Kabatu, Garage, and adjacent customers.

In Nyeri County, the specific areas that will be affected include; Munaini, Othaya Girls Secondary School, Gichichi Market, Kagongo, Mukurweini Water Works, Demka Diaries, Chinga Boys Secomdary, Ruruguti Market, Kagicha Market, Kiinu Primary, Gathambari Market, whole of Mucharage and adjacent customers.

In Tharaka Nithi County, the following areas will be affected: Gathiongo, Kathangachini, Kiaora, Bob Harries Road, Ruiru Town, and Ukombozi.

In the Coastal regions, the areas that will be affected include Vipingo, parts of Mombasa, Kanamai, Kikambala, Kambe Ribe, and Galu.

Most businesses end up being closed during blackouts, leaving the owners counting losses.
