List of neighborhoods across country that will be hit by power blackout


The full list of neighborhoods that will be affected by power interruptions across the country has been released by Kenya Power.

In a statement, the company listed six counties affected by the blackout.

“Hello, please find the scheduled power interruptions for tomorrow, August 1, 2023,” a statement by KPLC read in full.

In Nairobi Region, the affected area will be Parklands, located in Westlands Constituency.

The specific areas that will be affected include; Parts of Limuru Road, Aga Khan Hospital, Parts of second, third, fifth, and sixth Parklands Road, Regal Plaza, Mtama Road, Iregi Road, City Park Estate, City Park Crescent, City Park Drive, and adjacent customers.

Kiambu County was second on the list, and the specific areas that will be affected by the blackout include; Kikuyu Mission, Kikuyu Hospital, University of Nairobi (UON) Kikuyu Campus, Alliance Boys, Alliance Girls, Thogoto Teachers Training College (TTC), Presbyterian University, Thogoto Kihunguro, Maihii, and adjacent customers.

In Machakos County, the affected areas will be; Koma Hill up to Joska Market. The specific areas the power blackout will hit are; Koma, Malaa, Joska Market, Kantafu, Mbiani, Ngalaya, Ndovoini, and adjacent customers.

Homabay County was listed fourth in the list, and the specific areas that the power interruptions will hit are; Rapedhi and Riamaemba.

Specific areas affected within Nyanza County include; Oridi Girls, Bongu, Nguku, Pivale Water, Sukari Industries, Amoyo, Oria, Ototo Secondary School, Pala Koguta Market, and Dispensary.

Others are; Otochog, Gina, Kamenya, and adjacent customers.

The power interruptions will affect the Magunga and Kiabuya areas, also within Homabay County.

The specific areas listed by the electricity provider include; Nyandiwa, Kiabuya, Olando, Nyadenda Kagoro Girls Secondary School, Ongukwa Beach, Lak Nyiero, Ligogo Primary School, Kigogo Maize Milling Plant, Ruma National Park, Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), Kigoto, Kigwa, and adjacent customers.

Mombasa County is also scheduled to be affected by the power blackout, and the specific areas include; Shanzu, Sunrise Hotel, Tarvern Shanzu, Shanzu Teachers College, Shimo la Tewa Prisons, Shimo la Tewa Staff Quarters, and adjacent customers.

Kilifi County was also listed, and the specific areas that will be affected include; Mtwapa, Rhino, Moorings, Mtamondoni Chief’s camp, Mtwapa Sub-County Hospital, Club Garden, Jambo Jipya Hospital, Yellow House, Funyula and Mtwapa Plaza.

Others are; Mtomondoni Primary and Secondary Schools, Mama Mabata, Kizingitini, Golden Key Kubwa, Mikanjuni, Biladi, Mabo Villa, and adjacent customers.

For months now, the Kenya Power Company has been undertaking maintenance, leading to regular power outages across various parts of the country.
