Female aspirant arrested after turning up for live TV interview in full police uniform
Police in Nairobi have arrested an aspiring politician who turned up for an interview on television while donning full police uniform.
Ms Monicah Wamaitha Gitau was arrested moments after gracing the interview on Inooro TV. Police say she is not one of them.
She is vying for the Nairobi Women Representative seat on a Usawa party ticket.
“Police received a call from members of the public that there was an interview at Inooro TV and a female interviewee was wearing a police uniform. Police ambushed the suspect who was still in the same regalia,” the report filed at the station under OB number 23/29/06/2022 read in part.
Questioned, Ms Gitau did not give details as to why she was wearing the uniform which had full police badges.
During the interview, the suspect laid out the plans that she had for Nairobi residents.
“I will say we transform Nairobi the city to an employment hub,” she said.
She claimed Nairobians lacked equal chances for everyone owing to corruption. She is likely to be charged with impersonation.
