Sakaja defends noise pollution by Nairobi Festival event in response to fan
Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has responded to a fan enquiring about noise pollution from loud music at the Nairobi City Festival (NCF) event.
The function that is dubbed the ‘vibe of the city,’ was launched on December 12, 2022, and will run till December 17, 2022, the same month and will offer an opportunity to the youth from across the county to showcase their skills and talents.

However, the event is taking place in the wake of Sakaja’s club raids in residential areas as part of the noise pollution enforcement.
This prompted a question from his fan, who identified as Emma Pretty. She asked, “Sakaja Johnson hope ngoma itazimwa saa nne aky (I hope there will be no loud music being played by 10:00 pm).
To which Sakaja responded with, “Emma Pretty hii ni town. (Emma Pretty this is happening in the city).”
The response left netizens laughing. Sakaja has slowly curved out his trademark as the governor who waged a war against bars, clubs and hotel owners who break rules and play loud music past 10:00 pm in residential areas.
Last month, Sakaja had indicated that he would take stern actions on premises that failed to heed his orders and revoke all licenses of nightclubs and liquor stores within residential areas.

He would then dispatch police to go raid the 1824 Bar & Restaurant on Lang’ata road with the club’s management was caught by surprise as their unsuspecting revellers who were enjoying their drinks and making merry were forced to leave their bottles of beer on their table.
Anyhow, the Nairobi City Festival is happening in the refurbished Uhuru Park with 15,000 people expected to attend, interact and showcase their creativity.
The initiative which is being conducted by the Nairobi City County Government (NCCG) aims at providing a platform that celebrates Nairobi’s diversity and rich creative arts and culture.
The festival’s inaugural event consists of six pillars namely performing arts, visual arts, sports, culture, trade and information communications, and technology (ICT).
