Sh12 million reality competition show ‘The Voice Africa’ is here


FAME Studios Africa has partnered with Airtel Africa to roll out the debut season of The Voice Africa in 14 Airtel African countries.

The 14 countries are Kenya, Chad, DRC, Gabon, Madagascar, Malawi, Niger, Nigeria, Congo, Rwanda, Seychelles, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia.

The Voice Africa’ commenced with a call for virtual auditions on October 19, followed by live auditions later this year.

It is expected to attract and showcase the brightest of African musical talents, alongside a high-profile panel of coaches and TV hosts, and act as a launch pad for global recognition.

Seven participants from each of the 14 countries will be selected to participate in the program, with one of them eventually crowned The Voice Africa.

The show, a first of its kind on the continent, seeks to discover and grow musical talent in Africa. Viewers will be treated to thrilling performances as the region’s undiscovered talent showcases its prowess to the world.

Airtel Kenya Marketing Director Prisca Murigo, on her part, described the show as a transformational partnership that will help young Kenyans by nurturing and championing their musical talents.

“This is an opportunity for everyone who has a music dream to have an opportunity to express themselves to be recognised at a global scale and also build a career in music,” Ms. Murigo said.

The winner of The Voice Africa will walk home with Sh12 million ($100,000).

“Kenya has such great talent and this is the one season where we as Kenyans can stand up and show it to the continent. This is the first time in Africa that we are having a program at this scale,” Danice King’ori, Airtel Africa’s Media Lead said.

The show will be broadcast in March 2023, with the grand finale later in the year.

It will stream on Airtel TV, Free Air stations (FTAs), and paid channels across 14 countries.

The Voice is a reality singing competition where the contestants go through a blind audition, where they are judged and selected to compete based on their voice alone.
