‘My tears cannot be hidden,’ family mourns son who died in Christmas accident
A somber mood on Monday, January 2, 2022, engulfed Nyamira Town, Nyamira County as the family members of Mr. Clinton Maosa Obwocha laid him to rest.
Mr Obwocha died alongside his cousin Ms. Daisy Barongo Binyanya, 25 after they were involved in a grisly road accident along the Narok- Bomet stretch.
Mr Obwocha was mourned as a faithful, hardworking, and jovial man. He was also a staunch member of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church.

His only brother, Kevin Omote, in a tribute, said that he was already missing how they used to interact and shared when he was alive.
“We used to call each other bro. I have lost you. I don’t have any other brother to call ‘bro’ anymore. Your memory will never fade in my mind. You are no longer here to share ideas as we used to. The bond we had together. The bond of love and care. My tears cannot be hidden within my heart,” said Mr Omote in his tribute to the brother.
His sister in her tribute said that no one knew that Mr. Obwocha would depart from them this early.

She said that her brother was always jovial and was known for his charming and great company.
“I remember the fun we used to have as a family I still keep memories of you between us. You have left a big gap with broken hearts and nobody will fill it,” Ms. Mary Obwocha the sister said in her tribute to the late brother.
On Monday morning, Mr. Omote exclusively told Nairobi News that his late brother would be laid to rest today.
“Following the death of my brother Clinton Maosa Obwocha and cousin Daisy Barongo Binyanya in a tragic road accident which occurred on December 24, 2022, along Narok- Bomet Road, the Mwamoturi family is humbly requesting your prayers. The burial date will be on Monday, January 2, 2023. At one place,” Mr. Omote said.

Mr. Obwocha was a teacher having graduated from Kisii University in 2018 while Ms. Binyanya graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Architecture Engineering from the Technical University of Nairobi a few days before the trip.
Before they set off from Nairobi on the day they were involved in an accident, Ms. Binyanya called her father at 6 am and informed him that she was on her way.
As the travelers hit the road, Ms. Rodah Nyaboga Moraa, Mr. Obwocha’s mother, started preparing a Christmas meal for her son ahead of the festive reunion.
His father Mr. Benard Obwocha was equally eager and hoped his son would arrive well so they celebrate Christmas and New Year’s together.
“I was preparing a meal for my son. I sat outside anxiously waiting for him to arrive from Nairobi where he works. I was very happy when he informed me he was visiting home,” Ms. Moraa in an early interview with this reporter said.
