Dr Asha Mohammed resigns as Red Cross Kenya SG
Kenya Red Cross Society secretary general Dr Asha Mohammed has resigned after three years and four months in office.
Dr Asha confirmed her resignation on April 14, 2023, after what she termed as unfair treatment from internal and external forces.
Her resignation has been confirmed by Kenya Red Cross Society Governor Mr Geoffrey Kipng’etich Korir, who told Nairobi News through the phone that he received Dr. Asha’s letter.
“She was not fired. She resigned due to personal health-related reasons. I received the letter on Friday evening and the board has accepted her resignation,” Mr Korir said.
He also confirmed that the board has appointed Mr Ahmed Idris as secretary general in an Acting position.
Dr Asha assumed office in 2020, succeeding her predecessor Mr Abbas Gullet.
She previously served as Deputy Secretary General, Programmes and Region Management for two years.
