Eric Omondi uses Nadia Mukami to ‘prove’ Kenyans will always lose to Tanzanian artistes
For months now, Kenyan comedian Eric Omondi has been at the forefront of advocating for Kenyan first content airplay in Kenya.
He has advocated for a 75% airplay in a music industry dominated by West African, Tanzanian bongo, and South African Amapiano music.

His advocacy has seen him involved in online spats with Kenyan artists for one reason or another- especially as Eric complained about how international artists flock to Kenya and Kenyan artists curtain raise for them in exchange for a loose change compared to the millions paid to the foreigners.
Cue in the Sol Fest that was held at the Kenyatta International Conference Center on Saturday, December 17, 2022, where Kenya’s favorite boy band, Sauti Sol, held a music festival and invited both Kenyan and foreign artistes to perform before they went on to wrap the event at about 3 am the following day.

At this event, Eric Omondi- who had initially been banned from attending but ended up being let in any way- picked two performances from the night to further his activism on Kenyan artists getting more airplay over foreigners.
He picked Kenya’s Nadia Mukami and Tanzania’s Harmonize to show how Kenyan artists were allegedly losing out on bookings based on the social media content they put out about themselves compared to foreign artists performing in Kenya.

“Guys, please lend me two minutes of your time. Today I want to put things into perspective. These two artists both performed at the Sol Fest.
One of them took his time to organise production, carried a cameraman from Tanzania, and has since posted three videos showcasing their performance. Harmonize fans in Nigeria, Tanzania, South Africa, and the whole world know he had a very successful show in Nairobi, Kenya.
They don’t even know it was a Sauti Sol event. They think it was a Harmonize concert with 15,000 people in attendance!!!
Perception is everything!!!
Nadia had one of the best shows of the night and only posted a photo of herself leaning at some random wall, so her fans keep thinking she has no shows or she no longer performs, so her bookings go down. PERCEPTION!!! SHOWBIZ!!! PERCEPTION!!! PERCEPTION!!! Invest in your Art!!! Invest in your little and big moments!!!” posted Eric on Instagram on December 19, 2022.

In reaction to the post, Nadia Mukami went to his comments and told him it was okay. She had heard him and would post her content as she littered her comment with agony emojis.
However, by the time of publishing this article on December 20, 2022, Nadia was yet to post her content from the Sol Fest event.
