EXCLUSIVE – Daddy Owen: Why I now prefer a ‘come-we-stay’ marriage

Gospel singer Daddy Owen says he would not put in public his wedding again after his first marriage failed.

In an interview with Nairobi News, Daddy Owen said he is also not so keen on having another white wedding.

“I have learned my lessons,” he said. “If I ever do a wedding again, it will be a low key affair.”

Daddy Owen explained that he also does not have an interest in extravagant weddings.

“Given a chance, I would choose to come-we-stay,” he said. “We don’t look forward to weddings as men.”

When asked about his current relationship status, Daddy Owen replied he is not dating anyone at the moment.

The popular gospel singer, last year told a local blog that he has been under pressure to get married again.

He said even his mother and friends are worried about him living alone and visiting the family all by himself.

“She (my mother) tells me to hire someone just to stop walking alone at home. She is worried that I live alone, I walk alone,” he said.

However, Daddy Owen is hesitant about jumping into another marriage too quickly.

Daddy Owen also admitted that he is still afraid he might not make the best decisions after his first marriage failed.

Owen in the past said his failed marriage left him distraught and in a mental mess.

Despite his negative experience with his marriage, Daddy Owen has remained committed to helping others.

He spoke passionately about Kijabe Hospital facility that he had helped to fund, using money donated by the Safaricom foundation.

“I helped the facility. It was during my birthday, and I looked for funding and built the wards. It was Sh25 million and Sylvia Mulinge gave us money from the Safaricom foundation.”
