On Monday, January 16, 2023, Nairobi County police boss Mr. Adamson Bungei said he had been jailed and was only released from prison in December 2022.
A police source privy to his case said that the suspect was put on police radar for two years and was warned severally, but he did not heed the warning by the police.
“We believe that he was being assisted by a group of people who benefited from his criminal ways and they used to bail him out,” the police source said.
The detective said that one year ago, the robbery with violence suspect had at some point wanted to steal a motorbike but was cornered by officers.
He was severely shot but managed to escape from the scene with the bullet wounds, and efforts to track him down never bore any fruits.
“Police officers asked locals in Dandora to assist them nab anyone who had bullet wounds but this never happened,” the detective further said.

On Monday, his wife posted on a secret Facebook group which Nairobi News managed to access as she mourned his death, saying that she did not believe that he had passed on.
“Walahi Eddy umeamua tu hivyo. Iko tu sawa one day we will die me siamini Yutman niwewe umetuacha. RIP. Joh (I swear, Eddy, you made this decision. It is well, one day we will die, I don’t believe Yutman, that you left me. Rest In Peace, Joh),” she said.
In the secret Facebook group, the deceased never shied away from saying how he never feared death and that it would be tough for officers to nab him.
For instance, when he was shot and managed to escape, he posted saying that death is a must but being born was just by luck.
“Being born is a blessing, dying is a must,” he posted on the group.
Police officers on Sunday cornered the deceased as he was stealing from members of the public in Dandora, Nairobi County.

Eddy was in the company of a fellow Wadando gang member. The duo even injured some members of the public during their stealing spree, which caught the attention of members of the public, who quickly alerted the police.
It emerged that the two also had a gun and were using it to threaten civilians before stealing their valuables and money.
One of the injured men is fighting for his life at the Mama Lucy Hospital, cornered within the Kibarange area.
“It is then that police decided to go after the duo and managed to corner them as they went on with their evil deeds,” Mr. Adamson Bungei, the Nairobi County police boss, said.
Police say that the two were armed with homemade guns, and officers also recovered the two motorbikes.
