Impersonators using Felix Koskei’s name to intimidate Government officials

In an alarming revelation, Felix Koskei, the esteemed head of public service, has brought to light a distressing trend that has sent shockwaves through the corridors of power.

On Friday, August 4, 2023, Mr Koskei expressed concern over unknown individuals who have been brazenly impersonating him, wreaking havoc in various government offices, and engaging in criminal activities.

In a strongly-worded statement, Mr Koskei described these impostors as “unscrupulous criminal elements” who have been systematically making their way through government establishments, striking fear into the hearts of state officials and coercing them into parting with money.

The audacity of these criminals to exploit his name for their nefarious activities has left Mr Koskei deeply troubled.

“It has regrettably come to my attention that unscrupulous criminal elements are moving from one government office to the next intimidating state officials and extorting money in my name,” Mr Koskei declared, his frustration evident in his words.

Taking a resolute stand against this grave threat to the integrity of the government, Mr. Koskei called upon Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, and Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of various state corporations to remain vigilant and to promptly report any encounters with these impersonators.

He urged them to expose these criminals and ensure that their actions do not go unpunished.

“The era of people taking advantage of gullible Kenyans seeking jobs and government services by misusing names of senior state officials had come to an end,” Mr Koskei proclaimed, his determination to root out this menace apparent.

The head of public service vowed to take swift and decisive action against these impersonators once they are apprehended. His commitment to preserving the sanctity of government institutions and the well-being of its employees was palpable in his stern words.

Felix Koskei, a distinguished figure who has held prominent positions within the national government, is no stranger to the complex intricacies of public service. His long-standing association with President Dr. William Ruto has lent him a reputation of trustworthiness and dedication to the nation’s welfare.

However, Mr. Koskei’s career has not been without its share of controversies. In 2016, he found himself embroiled in a corruption scandal that led to his removal from the Agriculture Ministry.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) had compiled a comprehensive dossier, which included allegations against over 170 government officials accused of corruption.

While the move was hailed as a significant step in the fight against corruption, it was not devoid of criticism, with some labeling it a witch-hunt.
