Muhoozi: I will be president after my father
Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni’s son Muhoozi Kainerugaba has declared that he will be president after his father. While making the declaration on Twitter, Gen Muhoozi also warned those who think otherwise that theirs is a lost course.
This comes after he deleted his controversial tweets which he had announced that it would now take him only a week to capture Nairobi.
“I will be President of this country after my father. Those fighting the project are lost. MK Movement will win!!!” he tweeted.

His declaration of contesting for the presidency comes after he said he is a proud standby generator for his father.
“I’m proud to be the ‘Standby Generator’. I’m fully functional. The MK Army/Movement can NEVER be defeated. We are the children of our fathers. Uganda belongs to us!,” he tweeted.
However, Muhoozi is also on record for stating that he will only run for president if his father permits him. Muhoozi also boldly stated that he would run for the highest seat to appease his mother.

Muhoozi’s sentiments have since been echoed by his newly-appointed spokesperson Andrew Mwenda.
“Within the movement (NRM) there are people who think he should run in 2026. Muhoozi has said, for him to run in 2026, he will need his father to approve of it,” Mwenda said.
Mwenda also said the General is not in a contest with his father but with Kizza Besigye, a long-time unsuccessful presidential contestant, or Bobi Wine, an opposition leader who had also announced that he will be on the ballot in 2026.
