President William Ruto has reiterated his government’s commitment to reviving the country’s economy through his bottom-up model.

Speaking on Tuesday during the National Prayer day at the Nyayo National Stadium, the Head of State said the bottom-up approach, which he said originated from the Bible will lead to economic growth.

“Thank you for praying for the bottom-up economic plan because I got this agend from the Bible. Kenya shall be a country of plenty. Kenya shall be a country that we are going to lend and not borrow,” President Ruto said.

According to the Head of State, bottom-up model comes from the book of Psalms 113:7-8 (He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; He seats them with princes, with the princes of his people. He settles the childless woman in her home as a happy mother of children. Praise the Lord).

President Ruto also said, through prayer, God is able to turn the story of the country just as He did to King David in the Bible who was raised from taking care of his father’s flock to being a king.

This is not the first time President has made these remarks. On March 20, 2022, the president, while speaking in Murang’a, quoted the same Bible verse (Psalms 113: 7-8), to explain the bottom-up economic model.

“Maybe you as Christians are wondering where this bottom-up came from. Haven’t you heard of bottom-up? I want you to read Psalms 113:7-8. That is the bottom-up; there is no other explanation,” the president said at ACK St James and All Martyrs Memorial Cathedral.
