The announcement comes days after President William Ruto reiterated his campaign promises to create employment for Kenya’s youth amid high unemployment rates in the country. On several occasions, President William Ruto publicly announced his intentions to reduce unemployment rates in the country via various methods.

Last week, while in Murang’a County, he announced that he intends to create one million jobs for Murang’a residents via the affordable housing programme. The same is set to be replicated across the country where sites for the construction of more affordable houses will be located.

On another announcement, President Ruto also announced his intentions to increase employment opportunities for Kenya’s youth via the digital economy route. He announced that Kenya Kwanza is keen on making Kenya and ICT innovation hub to generate gainful employment and create wealth for Kenyans.

Through the Kenya Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship Accelerator Programme, President Ruto also hoped to create one million youth jobs by November 22, 2023.

During his presidential campaigns, Ruto promised to create 4 million jobs for youth to make them economically independent. He announced he intended to do this through his Hustler Movement where he will implement programs that will create these practical and sustainable jobs.
