Miguna: I can smell the freshness of Kenyan oxygen and freedom
Kenyan lawyer Miguna Miguna who just landed back in the country, has made his way straight to the venue of this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations at Uhuru Gardens, Nairobi.
Upon arrival at the venue, Miguna said that he had finally smelled the freshness of his motherland’s oxygen after being in exile for more than 1,700 days.
“I’m feeling exhilarated. I can at least now smell the freshness of Kenyan oxygen and freedom. This I what we wanted and this is what we got,” lawyer Miguna said.

He landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 6 am and was received by many of his supporters.
The lawyer has expressed his gratitude to the administration of President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua, who he said have kept their word in facilitating his return.
Miguna has been a great critic of the former administration of Uhuru Kenyatta and the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition party Mr. Raila Odinga.
He was deported in 2018 following the allegation of illegally administrating the oath to Mr. Odinga as the People’s President.

However, the outgoing Interior Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Fred Matiang’i, claimed that Miguna did not have the legal documents to be in the country.
In his response, Miguna said that he at no point lost his Kenyan citizenship by birth.
Despite several court orders to have Miguna’s passport and travel documents facilitated to him, none was honoured.
Before traveling back, the lawyer had warned Dr. Matiang’i and his Principal Secretary, Karanja Kibicho, that he would move to court to have them charged for curtailing his rights.

Also, the lawyer wants to be compensated for the damages caused during his deportation.
Before taking the oath of office, President Ruto assured Miguna that he would ensure he was back in the country, a promise that had been fulfilled.
All eyes are now on Miguna’s next step politically, now that he has poised himself as the next kingpin of the Luo community.
