King Kaka’s crime thriller to be screened in Hollywood

Rapper King Kaka’s movie Kamtupe will be screened in West Hollywood, California, at 7:30 pm on Thursday, 27 October 2022.

The film produced by Kaka Empire Films was released mid-2022 and was set in Nairobi.

It tells the story of a government worker who was robbed of his laptop when he ventured into a rough neighbourhood to locate a relative.

As fate would have it, the laptop held crucial state information that, if leaked, could plunge the country into a civil war.

The crime thriller features big names in the Kenyan film industry, such as renowned actor Jimmi Gathu, who is the film’s protagonist, and leading media personality Jeff Koinange, who is assigned voice-over duties.

Other well-known personalities featured in the film include musician Femi One and YouTuber Stanley Obienji, as well as Brendah Jons, Kelvin Musili, Vincent Otieno, Joyce Maina, Zack Matasi and Fidel Maithya.

The movie soundtrack includes songs from artists such as Otile Brown, Femi One, Kanambo Dede, Mbithi and Jadi.

This was the maiden movie that King Kaka born Kennedy Ombima directed and wrote with its tickets in Kenyan cinema being sold out.

The Dundaing hit maker was in the company of his wife during the red-carpet film launch. “When your best friend supports you. When your best friend kills it at the Red Carpet. Eishhhhh @nanaowiti At the @kamtupethefilm Launch. @kakaempirefilms,” he captioned.

Late last year, King Kaka revealed that he was misdiagnosed with him being sick for quite some months.

However, after bouncing back, the Wajinga Nyinyi crooner said that the ailment served as the reason for him to be thankful for life and good health.

He would then release a song titled Manifest, which highlighted his ordeal when he was unwell.
