Carolynne Waithera: Late De Matthew’s second wife reveals more family drama
The late legendary Kikuyu musician John De Matthew’s family continues to be embroiled in family drama three years on after his demise on August 18, 2019.
The drama is between his two widows Sarafina Wairimu and Carolynne Waithera, the second wife, who are fighting over his properties among other things.
In her third-year tribute to her late husband, Carolynne recorded messages to him and posted the video on social media where she hinted at more family drama.
“We couldn’t do a memorial service for him this year because so much has been going on including having elections in the same month.”

“It was not easy so I decided to do a tribute to him because wherever he is, I know he’s still watching over me and our boys,” Waithera began on Tuesday, August 30, 2022.
She first revealed that in the same month De Matthew passed on, his grandson died as well.
“Are you aware that we lost your grandson Victor? The child to our first born Jane? I know you can’t believe it. We couldn’t bury him next to you but that’s another story for another day.
I also wish you knew how your family treated me after your demise. They threw me out of our home where I gave birth to Matthew but don’t worry because God has been faithful. You may have left us but you’re always in my heart,” added Waithera.

Waithera explained that she decided to verbally pay tribute to him because she did not know if he received the note she wrote to him on his death anniversary.
“Babe I no longer live in the village where you left me. Life has not been easy without you. Being a single mother is not easy babe.
The hardest part of it all is when little Matthew asks me where you went and I don’t know how to answer him,” said Waithera.
She also made a point of updating him on the welfare of their children, noting that their son Ty had joined Thika High School and was now taller than her; and little Matthew was now five years old.
She added that she’d started a small business to take care of their family and she’d also founded a foundation in his name to give back to society as he loved to do when still alive.
“Your legacy will continue with me, your lioness. Your vacuum is so big and no one will ever replace you. I hope to see you someday. Continue resting babe,” concluded Waithera.

Sarafina and Carolynne’s beef dates back to days before the late De Matthew’s third anniversary when Carolynee began spilling family dramas on social media.
She said his entire family had abandoned her and their children and none of his alleged friends checked up on them.
This revelation comes as a surprise considering how the co-wives- Carolynne and the first wife, Sarafina Wairimu, stunned Kenyans with their show of unity at De Mathew’s burial.
Sarafina went to the extent of comforting Carolynne, assuring her that all will be well and no one would come between them.
Later, Sarafina posted online and appeared to be throwing a share at Carolynne. Sarafina revealed how she and DeMatthew worked together to build the wealth and family they had and no one was going to mess that up.
